Ethan got a new paint set for his birthday from his Auntie Arielle. I love the no-spill cups...Ethan can dip the brush in himself and paint away! Here he is painting a picture frame for Daddy.....he didn't quite finish it yet, we will have to get it back out tomorrow!
Hooray! This picture was taken on our NEW MacBook!! The people at the Apple store looked at us a little funny when Rich told them that his last computer was purchased from the Apple store in 2002....I guess that is what they would consider "out of date" or something?!?
This is Ethan's second summer in survival swimming through ISR. Last summer he learned basic floating and rolling, and so far this summer he has learned how to reach for the edge, and swim towards his teacher Ms. Holly on his belly. Our lessons are at 8 am for 10 minutes each day. Here he is on his 5th lesson and his first day without crying! If you look closely you will see that I got to get in the water with him! That calmed Ethan down and he realized that swimming is actually fun! Holly was able to snap these great underwater pictures of Ethan as he happily swam back and forth between the two of us. Next, Ethan will learn how to swim and flip over onto his back to float. He tried that today and he wasn't a big fan of floating, I am sure he will feel more comfortable with practice! Just no practicing in the bathtub though...that's because the babies learn to feel the bottom of the tub with their little butt and they struggle to maintain a good float in the pool!
The Morris household has been preparing for the release of the second Cars movie for months! Ethan has been wearing his Cars shirt, holding his stuffed Cars figures, jumping up and down at the commercials, reading his look and find Cars book, and pointing out all at the posters as we drive. So it was only appropriate that Ethan's first trip to the theater be the release of Cars 2. We tried to go to an early showing but it was too packed, so we bought our tickets for an after nap showing. Ethan ate lunch, had a great nap, and we headed off to the theater with plenty of time to get the perfect seats. Rich went in and saved our three seats (complete with a booster chair) and Ethan and I walked the lobby waiting for the show to begin. We took pictures in front of the giant Cars advertisement poster (you can see him pointing out Mater), talked about the upcoming movies, and with a few minutes to spare grabbed bag of popcorn. We took our perfect seats right as the movie was starting. Ethan sat watching the previews, his hand reaching over to get popcorn. He laughed at all of the funny previews, and pointed out all of the characters he recognized. It was movie going bliss....until the 30 minutes of previews ended. Ethan stood up out of his chair and announced, "I all done!"
For Father's Day this year, Ethan and I surprised Rich with tickets to go see the Diamondbacks. We had great seats in the lower level along the 3rd baseline. Ethan loved shouting out at the field "Go Diamondbacks!!" and "Swing batter batter!" We also went up to the upper level so that Ethan could play in the kids area, and of course we had to take a walk through the team shop. Ethan REALLY wanted to use the bat and ball and get a game started of his own. I was a bit worried he might break something in the store, he has quite the arm!
Rich and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary with dinner out on Mission Beach in San Diego. Rich's Aunt Pam and cousin Bailey watched Ethan for the night so that we could head out for a night together.
