Happy Halloween!

"There's a snake in my boot!"

Woody and Buzz, friends to infinity and beyond!

Bubby Lovin'

A sweet little Halloween treat!

Once again this year, we were lucky to celebrate Halloween with Bubby! She hasn't missed a Halloween since Ethan was born, and this year of course we had a special little treat to share! Little Matthew celebrated his first Halloween in style, and Ethan and Daddy dressed up as Woody and Buzz. Poor Ethan actually had croup and was feeling pretty miserable. Rich ended up carrying him to a few houses to trick-or-treat, but then he came home and fell asleep. Thank goodness Matthew didn't get it!

Grammy and Poppa Come to Visit!

When Matthew was just 10 days old, Grammy and Poppa Cuff flew out to visit. We were pretty active (especially considering I had just had a baby 10 days earlier!) We sat together in the backyard holding Matthew and taking lots of pictures. Ethan had to show off his park, so we walked over for some play time. Poppa pushed Ethan on the swing and they giggled and sang, "up to the birds! Up to the birds!"
We also took Grammy and Poppa to the state fair. We walked around, ate some junk food, and let Ethan get his fill of rides. I put Matthew in my front carrier. He was so tiny in there, his little head barely reached to the top. He was still too small to fit in my Sunshine Baby sling, and I didn't have my ring sling yet.
It was so special for Matthew to meet his Grammy and Poppa, and for Ethan to have some bonding time!

So Tiny!

We know our teeny guy is going to grow so fast (especially if he grows at Ethan's pace) so I had to take some pictures to show how little he started out! Such a sweet little baby love!

Bringing Matthew Home

Ethan was so excited to see Mommy, Daddy and Matthew that he squealed when Grandma turned the car onto our street to meet us at the house. Mommy and Daddy were so happy to see our big boy and be home after an exhausting couple of days.

Jared and Carrie stopped by to bring us Chipotle and some treats and to meet the newest tiny member of our family. The next evening, Brandy brought Jayton and Brekin over to greet their new baby cousin. Brekin loved touching my belly when Matthew was in there, so it was fun to show him that there really was a baby in there!

Welcome Matthew Dean!

We are so excited to announce the arrival of our second beautiful baby boy. Matthew Dean Morris arrived at 3:25 on Sunday, October 16. It was a long and eventful labor! I started having contractions days before, and so I was sort of expecting that Matthew would arrive early. On Saturday we were out and about doing errands and when we got home Ethan and Richard took a nap. During their nap, I started felling the contractions a little bit more. I decided to head off and get a pedicure...hey I wanted pretty toes for the big event! During my pedicure I was having contractions, but I still wasn't sure if I was really in labor. When I got home they started getting stronger, so we started timing them...I was having contractions two minutes apart! Over the next couple of hours they got stronger and stronger and remained consistent at 2 minutes apart. After speaking with Jared's sister Kristen (a labor and delivery nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital) we decided to head over to the hospital to see how I was progressing. Unfortunately I was only dilated 1 cm, even after an hour walk around the hospital! So we headed home, with contractions still 2 minutes apart.
After laboring at home all night, we headed back to the hospital around 6 am. I was still only one cm dilated. It was time for a change, so I tried really hard to relax and be less tense. Then things finally started to progress! We were admitted and headed over to our hospital room. I spent some time in the tub, and many hours on the ball with Rich (my amazing labor coach) pushing his thumbs into my back until they were practically numb. It was awesome to have Kristen Thie as our labor and delivery nurse. She was so supportive, and it made me feel so much more comfortable to have a friend there. Finally, after 22 hours of labor, Matthew Dean Morris was born. He was 6 lbs 9 oz., and 19 inches long. We were so happy to see our beautiful healthy boy for the first time!

Mommy and Me Zoo Day

Another day of fun on my Fall Break! This was such a special day for Ethan and Mommy...I actually impressed myself pushing 30 pound Ethan in his 20 pound stroller up and down the hills at the zoo nearly 9 months pregnant! Ethan was such a good boy, and even wore big boy underpants without having an accident. I was so proud of him! It meant so much to me to have one on one time with Ethan before Baby Matthew arrives.

Fall Break=Stay at Home Mommy=Best Job Ever!

Cool Guy on the Swings
Getting ready to throw some bread
Action shot!
Cheese!

Since Rich is working in a new school district this year, our Fall breaks are not at the same time. So Ethan and I have had a great week of bonding and outings before baby Matthew arrives. I have literally been savoring every minute I have been able to soak up with my funny little man.

This day of fun at the park was on Monday. We walked over and spent some time trying to get the ducks to come to our side of the little lake (they were all over on the side that is under construction!) We finally gave up and spent about 20 minutes on the swings. Ethan kept saying, "I want to go high!" Suddenly, he looked out and saw that the ducks had moved to the area where we could feed them, so we raced over and threw piece after piece of stale bread into the water below (more than the ducks could keep up with!) Then it was off to the slides...we LOVE our park, and the fact that we can walk there in about 3 minutes!!

Whose is Bigger?

Silly boy impersonating mommy at 36 weeks pregnant! I love that funny little face!

Big Boy Baseball Room

With the arrival of baby brother coming soon, we have been busy turning our "office" into Ethan's new big boy baseball room. It has been a slow process of finding just the right bed, bedding, and of course clearing out everything that would no longer be in the room. We were really not in a big hurry to have Ethan move out of his crib, even with Baby Matthew coming soon. This is because we had such a wonderful bedtime routine going already. Bath, lotion and jammies, then Ethan would snuggle up to Daddy to read a book, and finally up in the rocking chair with mommy to read a book. Then we would turn out the lights, Ethan would give Daddy and Mommy big hugs and kisses, and we would put him in his crib, each taking a turn to rub his back for a moment. Ethan never tried to climb out, and most nights went right to sleep right as we left the room. This was not a routine we were anxious to change!

However, last Saturday night Ethan's big boy room was really looking ready so I asked him where he wanted to sleep. He chose his baseball room, so I followed the same routine but did everything in his new room. He slept through the whole night and never got out of his bed! It has been almost a week now, and Ethan has had a great night of sleep in his big boy room (almost) each night! He loved to snuggle into the bumper at the head of his crib, so I put pillows between his bed and the wall so he could feel the same sense of security. It is actually quite nice to read snuggled up in his bed with him as opposed to the rocking chair...Ethan, me, and my big belly were getting a little crowded!

New Smoothie Recipe

Ethan definitely approves of my new smooth recipe! He has loved smoothies practically since birth...but I just love watching his face light up as I ask, "Ethan do you want a smoothie?" Here's the new recipe:

2 packets of Trader Joe's frozen mango
Frozen blueberries-maybe 1/2 cup or so
Yogurt
Almond milk
*powdered probiotics mixed in to Ethan's cup

Mix it up, yum!

The Evolution of the Pitchfork

See? You hold your fingers like this...
Go Devils!!
Game Time!

Look who's making a pitchfork to cheer on his Sun Devils! Oh, and Daddy is so proud. Later, as Ethan saw the ASU game on TV and they panned the thousands of fans in gold shirts, he said "I see Daddy! I see Poppa! I see Maddy!" Then when he saw the players, silly Ethan said, "I see Daddy, he's wearing a helmet!"
